ATLANTA (WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2023) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced its first
2023-24 HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week and Team of the Week” honors featuring the nation’s top
HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T,
and Hampton Universities.

This week’s winners from November 5-11:

•  HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Player of the Week

  Allen Betrand
  Norfolk State University (John Chaney Shooting Guard)
  Averaged 21 mpg, 11.5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists for the week
  
  

• HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week

  Howard University
  Went 1-1 for the week with a home win versus Hampton University (92-80) and a tough road loss at Georgia Tech (88-85)
  
  

• HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Player of the Week

  Brandon Davis
  Southern University (John Chaney Shooting Guard)
  Averaged 24 mpg, 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for the week.
  
  

• HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Team of the Week

  Southern University
  Went 1-1 for the week with a very impressive road win at UNLV (85-71)
  and loss at Texas Christian University (108-75)
  
  

• HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Player of the Week

  Christian Wells
  LeMoyne-Owen College (Robert Earl “Bob “Love Small Forward
  Averaged 39 mpg, 32 points, and 7 rebounds in lost to Delta State University (99-81)
  
  

• HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Team of the Week

  Clark Atlanta University
  Went (2-0) for the week with wins over West Florida (74-57) and Valdosta State (77-64) as they
  hosted the GSC/SIAC Regional Challenge. They also had a big (71-64) road win at Mercer

• HBCU All-Stars National Spotlight Player of the Week

  Brandon Davis

  Southern University
  Went (1-1) on the road for the week with a big 85-71 road win at UNLV and loss at Texas Christian University (108-75).

Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO “We are truly proud of all 49 of our outstanding teams, coaches, support staff, and the nation’s top 60 HBCU players on the 2023-24 HBCU All-Star Game Watch List. We are entering the first week of recognizing player and team of the week honors. All of our NCAA Division I MEAC, SWAC, Independent teams in the CAA, and NCAA Division II CIAA, SIAC teams are competing at a very high level, with each game counting toward the regular season and conference tournament championship. I am speaking both personally and professionally with 17 years of coaching experiences at two HBCUs Tennessee State University and Fort Valley State University. Our brilliant HBCU coaches, hardworking, and very talented student-athletes are more focused and determined than ever. I look forward to each team really positioning themselves to cut down the nets in late February for CIAA conference tournament championships, and in March for the MEAC, SWAC, SIAC Conference Tournament Championships, along with the NCAA Division I & II tournament berths.

Our HBCU All-Stars National Scouts with over 100 combined years of coaching, scouting, and recruiting will continue attending games and evaluating, scouting, and recruiting the nation’s top 60 players across the country from the 2024 Watch List. On Monday, March 18, 2024 live from CBS Sports HQ the
nation’s top 24 players will be announced representing the Best in Black College Basketball.

HBCU All-Stars Player of the Week selections will highlight and showcase the nation’s best HBCU student-athletes and brilliant coaches on a national stage.

HBCU All-Stars LLC will honor the illustrious playing careers of Alvin Attles Jr, North Carolina A&T State University (CIAA), John Chaney, Bethune-Cookman University (SIAC), Leonard Eugene “Truck” Robinson, Tennessee State University (Independent), Robert Earl “Bob “Love, Southern University (SWAC), Zelmo “Big Z” Beaty, Prairie View A&M University (SWAC).  All of these amazing HBCU legends made their mark in this great game of basketball and reached the highest level of success in the NBA. We will recognize their impact on our HBCU basketball culture during the 2023-24 basketball season and host the third annual HBCU All-Star Game on the beautiful and breathtaking campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.

This event is far more than a basketball game.  HBCU All-Stars LLC will stage the HBCU All-Star Game Experience, a week-long festival that will kick off the week on Tuesday, April 2 and conclude the following Tuesday after the Championship game (April 9).  It will celebrate the HBCU Experience and will be highlighted by a HBCU All-Stars College Admissions Fair, Community Outreach and Engagement, Pro Day Combine, Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony, and Social Justice & Civil Rights panel discussion.

The HBCU All-Star Game will air live on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on
Paramount+.
