HBCU ALL-STARS ANNOUNCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK & TEAM OF THE WEEK HONORS, CELEBRATING THE BEST IN BLACK COLLEGE BASKETBALL

FOURTH ANNUAL MEN’S HBCU ALL-STAR GAME AND FIRST EVER WOMEN’S HBCU ALL-STAR GAME TO BE HELD AT FREEMAN COLISEUM IN SAN ANTONIO ON SUNDAY, APRIL 6, 2025

ATLANTA (WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2025) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced its seventh 2024-25 HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week, Team of the Week, and National Spotlight Player” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU men and women student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities.

“This is the most important stretch of the season and every game counts for our very talented teams, players, and coaches as they position themselves for the regular season and conference tournament championships and NCAA Tournament berths…”

About The Watch List

Our HBCU All-Stars National Scouts with over 100 combined years of coaching, scouting, and recruiting will continue attending games, evaluating, scouting, and recruiting the nation’s top 100 men and women players across the country from the 2024-25 Watch List.

Men’s Player of the Week
  • Tanahj Pettway, Prairie View A&M University – Averaged 24 mpg, 23 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, and 1 steal for the week.
Men’s Team of the Week
  • SWAC Men’s Team of the Week: Jackson State University – Went 1-0 for the week with a win over Alcorn State University (72-69) on the road in a backyard rivalry game.
  • MEAC Men’s Team of the Week: South Carolina State University – Went 1-0 for the week with a conference win over Morgan State University (86-72) on the road.
  • Independent Men’s Team of the Week: Tennessee State University – Went 1-1 for the week with a buzzer-beater loss to Southeast Missouri State University (67-65) and a win over Little Rock Arkansas University (95-86).
  • CIAA Men’s Team of the Week: Virginia State University – Went 1-0 for the week with a conference win over Johnson C. Smith University (75-68) at home and now has a (9-4) overall record and a (4-0) conference standing, riding a 6-game win streak.
  • SIAC Men’s Team of the Week: Albany State University – Went 3-0 for the week with wins over Shorter University (72-69), Lane College (104-101), and LeMoyne-Owen College (84-80).
National Spotlight Men’s Player of the Week
  • Davion Everett, South Carolina State University – Averaged 31 mpg, 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block for the week.
  • Clint Wright Jr., Lincoln University – Averaged 31 mpg, 28 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal for the week.
Women’s Player of the Week
  • Diamond Johnson, Norfolk State University – Averaged 31.5 mpg, 19 points, 9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3.5 steals for the week.
  • Cordasia Harris, Alabama State University – Averaged 34 mpg, 23.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks for the week.
Women’s Team of the Week
  • MEAC Women’s Team of the Week: Norfolk State University – Went 2-0 for the week with wins at SEC Auburn (63-57) and Maryland Eastern Shore (72-54).
  • SWAC Women’s Team of the Week: Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, and Texas Southern – All went 2-0 for the week with significant wins.
  • CIAA Women’s Team of the Week: Fayetteville State University – Went 1-0 for the week with a road win against Bowie State (76-55).
  • SIAC Women’s Team of the Week: Clark Atlanta University – Went 2-0 for the week with home wins versus Miles College (69-61) and Spring Hill College (80-50).
National Spotlight Women’s Player of the Week
  • Taliah Wesley, Allen University – Averaged 33 mpg, 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals for the week.

  • Clark Atlanta University – Went 2-0 for the week with home wins versus Miles College (69-61) and Spring Hill College (80-50).

About The All Star Game

This event is far more than a basketball game. HBCU All-Stars LLC will stage the HBCU All-Star Game Experience, a week-long festival that will kick off the week on Tuesday, April 2 and conclude the following Tuesday after the Championship game (April 9). It will celebrate the HBCU Experience and will be highlighted by a HBCU All-Stars College Admissions Fair, Community Outreach and Engagement, Pro Day Combine, Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony, and Social Justice & Civil Rights panel discussion.

HBCU All-Stars, LLC is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and was founded in 2019 with the mission to advocate, educate, expose, mentor, and invest in hardworking, talented, ambitious, and very deserving students, student-athletes, and brilliant coaches at our distinguished Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Along with its mission, in April 2022, 2023, and 2024, the company also launched three prestigious HBCU All-Star Games and ancillary experiences and events surrounding the historical endeavor in New Orleans, Houston, and Phoenix.
