Atlanta (Wednesday, February 2, 2022) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week and Team of the Week” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T and Hampton Universities
This week’s winners from January 24, 2022 – January 30, 2022:
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week
Norfolk State University
Named Team of the Week three weeks in a row and have a 6-0 record during that span. Went undefeated with victories over Morgan State University at home (82-62) and a road win over South Carolina State University (87-69).
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Player of the Week
(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Kyle Foster, Howard University A three-time winner, Foster averaged 23 points in two games for the week. In the first game versus Coppin State University, he had 19 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 4-7 from 3. In an OT win versus North Carolina Central University, had 27 points, shot 10-12 from the field, and 5-6 from 3.

Florida A&M University (Co-Winner)
A three-time winner, FAMU went undefeated during the week (2-0) with a road conference win over Jackson State (67-64) and a home conference win over Alabama A&M (65-60)

Grambling State University (Co-Winner)
Went 2-0 for the week with a home win over University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (76-65) and a road win at Jackson State University (73-64)
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Player of the Week
(Dick Barnett Point Guard) Jayden Saddler, Southern University (Co-Winner) A three-time winner, Saddler averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in two games. He had 21 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and shot 10-12 from the field versus Mississippi Valley State University. Against Alcorn State University, Saddler had 18 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and shot 8-14 from the field.

(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Jawaun Daniels, Prairie View A&M (Co-Winner) A two-time winner, Daniels averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the week. He had 30 points, 7 rebounds and shot 11-12 from the field, including 6-6 from 3 in the first game against Alabama A&M. Daniels had a double-double in the second game versus Texas Southern University with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I HBCU Independent Player of the Week
(Rick Mahorn Center) Najee Garvin, Hampton University (Co-Winner)
Garvin averaged 19 points and 6.6 rebounds in three games for the week with a season-high 28 points, shooting 9-18 from the field, including 4-7 from the 3.

(Bobby Dandridge Small Forward) Kassim Nicholson, Tennessee State University (Co-Winner) A four-time winner, Nicholson averaged a double-double for the week with 11 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Fayetteville State University
Went undefeated (3-0) with wins over Virginia Union University (53-45), Claflin University (71-67) and St. Augustine University (60-52).

(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Jalen Seegars, Fayetteville State University A three-time winner, Seegars averaged 17.6 points & 6 rebounds in three conference wins for Fayetteville State University.

Kentucky State University (Co-Winner)
Went 2-0 for the week with conference wins over Central State University (68-64) and Spring Hill College (87-71).

Savannah State University (Co-Winner)
Went 2-0 for the week with conference wins over Allen University (78-66) and Clark Atlanta University (85-67).

(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Trey Deloach, Savannah State University (Co-Winner) Deloach averaged 13.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in two conference wins.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Player of the Week
(Dick Barnett Point Guard) Brandon Miller, Miles College (Co-Winner)
Miller averaged 13.5 points and 11 assists in two wins (2-0) for the week. He had 23 points, 10 assists, three rebounds and shot 5-6 from 3 in a win versus Tuskegee University.

Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO, and former Head Coach at two prestigious HBCUs (Tennessee State and Fort Valley State University): “We are two-and-a-half months from the first-ever HBCU All-Star Game during Final Four Weekend in New Orleans. This is an exciting time in the lead up to Championship season with conference play and rivalry games in The MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities. All of our outstanding teams are vying for the top spots and competing to win their regular season and conference tournament championships. We look forward to showcasing some of the nation’s best players in black college basketball from these distinguished 48 teams competing at our prestigious HBCUs across the country. Our hard-working, talented, and ambitious student-athletes, outstanding teams and coaches are working hard on a weekly basis.”
HBCU All-Stars Player of the Week selections will continue highlighting HBCU legends Dick Barnett Point Guards, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guards, Bobby Dandridge Small Forwards, Ben Wallace Power Forwards, and Rick Mahorn Centers.
The 2022 HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase highlighting the best HBCU players in the country, will be held at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00 PM, ET.

The HBCU All-Star Game, which begins this season, will feature the best talent from the four Historically Black Athletic Conferences, representing the legendary coaches Team John McClendon (MEAC & SIAC) and Team Clarence “Big House” Gaines (SWAC & CIAA) along with Tennessee State, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T State Universities. The game will be held annually on the Sunday of Final Four weekend in the host city.
