Atlanta (Wednesday, March 2, 2022) – HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week and Team of the Week” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T and Hampton Universities
This week’s winners from February 21-27, 2022:
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week Co-Winner
Morgan State University
Went undefeated for the week (2-0), defeating conference leader Norfolk State at home (85-74) and winning on the road at Delaware State (76-69).
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week Co-Winner
University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES)
Went undefeated for the week (2-0), upending NCCU on the road (79-66) and defeating Coppin State at home (70-50).
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Player of the Week Co-Winner
(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Myles Carter, Delaware State University
Carter averaged 29.5 points, while shooting 63% from the field & 50% from the 3-point line.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Player of the Week Co-Winner
(Rick Mahorn Center) Lagio Grantsaan, Morgan State University
In two wins for the Bears, Grantsaan averaged 16.5 points, while shooting 70% from the field & averaging 6 rebounds.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Team of the Week Co-Winner
Texas Southern University
A three-time winner, went undefeated for the week (2-0) by knocking off Arkansas-PB on the road (70-68) & beating JSU at home (81-66). TSU leads the conference with a 14-2 record.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Team of the Week Co-Winner
Alabama A&M University
Went undefeated for the week (2-0), beating FAMU (71-63) on the road & defeating rival Alabama State at home (80-65). AAMU is now on a five-game winning streak, elevating them into 2nd place with a conference record of 9-7.

(Rick Mahorn Center) Brison Gresham, Texas Southern University
A two-time winner, Gresham averaged 9.5 points and shot 90% from the field while averaging 4.5 rebounds.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Player of the Week Co-Winner
(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Jawaun Daniels, Prairie View A&M
A four-time winner, Daniels averaged 19 points, shot 41% from the field, averaged 8.5 rebounds & averaged 4.5 assists.

(Rick Mahorn Center) Najee Garvin, Hampton University
A three-time winner, Garvin averaged a “double-double” with 14.5 points & 10 rebounds, while shooting 40% from the field.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II CIAA Team of the Week
Fayetteville State University
A four-time winner, Fayetteville State University captured the CIAA Tournament title with 3 wins over Va. State (72-60), Livingstone (79-68) and Va. Union (65-62).
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II CIAA Player of the Week
(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Jalen Seegars, Fayetteville State University
A four-time winner, Seegars was named CIAA Tournament MVP, averaging 15 points while shooting 50% from the field. He also averaged 5 rebounds during the tournament.

Morehouse College
Morehouse, a five-time winner, extended its winning streak to 17 games while capturing the Eastern Division Championship with a conference record of 15-2. During the week, Morehouse defeated Albany State (80-69) & Savannah State (67-56).

(Bobby Dandridge Small Forward) Noah Morgan, Morehouse College
A four-time winner, Morgan led Morehouse to two wins by averaging 13.5 points, 3 rebounds & 2.5 assists.
According to Travis L. Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO, and former Head Coach at two prestigious HBCUs (Tennessee State and Fort Valley State University): “We are 31 days from hosting the first-ever, historical and impactful HBCU All-Star Game in college basketball during Final Four Weekend in New Orleans. Last week during the CIAA Tournament Championship, all of our distinguished Division II HBCU basketball programs and “Watch List” student-athletes played at a very high level with Fayetteville State University capturing the championship. Now, we have a full week to watch our 11 SIAC “Watch List” players in the Tournament Championship in Rock Hill, SC. The SWAC and MEAC teams are in the final week of the season with Norfolk State University capturing the regular season Championship with conference tournament play starting next week. Our Independent teams – Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities – have started their respective conference tournament championships and we look forward to a strong finish with these teams. We are also very excited about this historic event and look forward to supporting some of the nation’s best players in Black college basketball from our distinguished 48 teams and prestigious HBCUs across the country. Our hard-working, talented, and ambitious student-athletes, outstanding teams and coaches are working hard on a weekly basis.”
HBCU All-Stars Player of the Week selections will continue highlighting HBCU legends Dick Barnett Point Guards, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guards, Bobby Dandridge Small Forwards, Ben Wallace Power Forwards, and Rick Mahorn Centers.
The 2022 HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase highlighting the best HBCU players in the country, will be held at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00 PM, ET.

The HBCU All-Star Game, which begins this season, will feature the best talent from the four Historically Black Athletic Conferences, representing the legendary coaches Team John McClendon (MEAC & SIAC) and Team Clarence “Big House” Gaines (SWAC & CIAA) along with Tennessee State, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T State Universities. The game will be held annually on the Sunday of Final Four weekend in the host city.
The HBCU All-Star Game will air live on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on Paramount+.
