Inaugural HBCU All-Star Game to be held at UNO Lakefront Arena on Sunday, April 3, 2022 Black History, Black Excellence & Black Cultural Experiences
ATLANTA (Wednesday, January 12, 2022) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week and Team of the Week” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities.
This week’s winners from January 3, 2022 – January 9, 2022:
- HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week
Had the first MEAC conference match-up and road win at South Carolina State University (1-0) and defeated the Bulldogs (74-65)
- HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Team of the Week Co-Winners
Alcorn State went (2-0) on the road with impressive wins at Jackson State University (65-50) and Alabama A&M (78-71)
Southern finished the week (2-0) and beat Texas Southern at home (63-50) and FAMU on the road (80-66)
- HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Player of the Week Co-Winners
(Rick Mahorn Center) Lenell Henry, Alcorn State University
Henry averaged 17.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds in two wins for Alcorn State on the road at Jackson State University (65-50) and Alabama A&M (78-71)
(Dick Barnett Point Guard) Jayden Saddler, Southern University
Saddler averaged 15 points per game and 4 assists in two wins for Southern University at home (63-50) versus Texas Southern University and FAMU on the road (80-66 )
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I Independent Team of the Week
North Carolina A&T State University
Had two Big South Conference wins to go (2-0) beat Presbyterian College at home (65-57) and Radford University on the road (73-72)
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division Independent Player of the Week (Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) David Beatty, North Carolina A&T State University
In two really good wins for NCA&T in the Big South Conference, Beatty moved from his normal shooting guard position to point guard and averaged 11 points per game and 3 rebounds.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II CIAA Team of the Week
Winston Salem State University
Had two big conference wins at home against Virginia State University (90-88 in OT) and Shaw University (81-66)
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II CIAA Player of the Week
(Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guard) Cameron Campbell, Winston Salem State University
In 2 wins for WSSU, Campbell averaged 17 points per game, 3 rebounds, and shot 43% from threes.
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Team of the Week Benedict College
Extended their winning streak to 10 games and went (2-0), home win over Edward Waters University (111-68) and on the road win at Lane College (54-51)
HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Player of the Week
(Bobby Dandridge Small Forward) Tajh Green, Benedict College
In two wins, Green averaged a “ DOUBLE-DOUBLE “ with 14.5 points per game and 11 rebounds to help his team extend their 10 game winning streak.
Note: South Carolina State University versus Coppin State University were the only game being played in the MEAC conferences.

Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO, and former Head Coach at two prestigious HBCUs (Tennessee State and Fort Valley State University): “Conference play and Championship season in the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, and Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities are heating up. Our outstanding HBCU teams, coaches, and players are locked in during this crucial stretch of the season and we look forward to showcasing some of the nation’s best players from these distinguished 48 teams competing at our prestigious HBCUs across the country. We are excited to celebrate the best in black college basketball and recognizing our hard-working, talented, and ambitious student-athletes, and outstanding teams on a weekly basis.”
HBCU All-Stars Player of the Week selections will continue highlighting HBCU legends Dick Barnett Point Guards, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe Shooting Guards, Bobby Dandridge Small Forwards, Ben Wallace Power Forwards, and Rick Mahorn Centers.
The 2022 HBCU All-Star Game, a college basketball showcase highlighting the best HBCU players in the country, will be held at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on Sunday, April 3 at 4:00 PM, ET.

The HBCU All-Star Game, which begins this season, will feature the best talent from the four Historically Black Athletic Conferences, representing the legendary coaches Team John McClendon (MEAC & SIAC) and Team Clarence “Big House” Gaines (SWAC & CIAA) along with Tennessee State, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T State Universities. The game will be held annually on the Sunday of Final Four weekend in the host city.
The HBCU All-Star Game will air live on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on Paramount+.
