According to Travis L. Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO, “Week 10 Player of the Week and Team of the Week honors have extra meaning and significance as we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy this past weekend and his impact around the globe still speaks volumes. I really enjoyed participating in the MLK Jr. Celebration and marched with thousands in downtown Phoenix. This was a very special moment for me both personally and professionally and sits at the very top of my life’s accomplishments, goals, and aspiration. I was hit with emotions while carrying the “torch” during the march showing love, appreciation, admiration, and respect for Dr. King’s work. There is so much love and support from the Phoenix communities, and Grand Canyon University for the HBCU All-Stars Basketball Movement and the third annual HBCU All-Star Game in 81 days. In addition, our HBCU All-Stars National Scouting staff with close to 150 years of head and assistant coaching experience are working extremely hard on a weekly basis. Anthony Sewell, HBCU All-Stars National Scouting Director, Stacey Beckton, Assistant Scouting Director, and national scouts Eric Skeeters, Murray Garvin, Chrys Cornelius are scouting, evaluating, and recruiting the nation’s top 65 HBCU All-Stars Watch List players from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, and Independent teams Tennessee State, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T State Universities. We will have the best of the best in Black College Basketball representing in the Valley of the Sun.

Our HBCU All-Stars national scouting staff has done an amazing job of getting out to the HBCU campuses and evaluating the nation’s top 65 HBCU players on our watch list. Also, the HBCU All-Stars tour continues to represent the HBCU All-Stars basketball movement at the highest level every week. We are less than 90 days and need you to get your tickets for this historic third annual HBCU All-Star Game at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix on Sunday, April 7.”

HBCU All-Stars LLC will honor the illustrious playing careers of Alvin Attles Jr., North Carolina A&T State University (CIAA), John Chaney, Bethune-Cookman University (SIAC), Leonard Eugene “Truck” Robinson, Tennessee State University (Independent), Robert Earl “Bob” Love, Southern University (SWAC), Zelmo “Big Z” Beaty, Prairie View A&M University (SWAC). Each of these amazing HBCU legends made their mark in this great game of basketball and reached the highest level of success in the NBA. We will recognize their impact on our HBCU basketball culture during the 2023-24 basketball season and host the third annual HBCU All-Star Game at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.

The HBCU All-Star Game is far more than a basketball game. HBCU All-Stars LLC will stage the HBCU All-Star Game Experience, a week-long festival that will kick off the week on Tuesday, April 2, and conclude the following Tuesday after the Championship game, April 9. It will celebrate the HBCU Experience and will be highlighted by an HBCU All-Stars College Admissions Fair, Community Outreach and Engagement, Pro Day Combine, Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony, and Social Justice & Civil Rights panel discussion.
