ATLANTA (WEDNESDAY, March 6, 2024) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced its 17th 2023-24 HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week and Team of the Week” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities.

This week’s winners from February 25 – March 3:

  •  HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Player of the Week
    Fred Cleveland, Jr., North Carolina Central University (Alvin Attles, Jr. Point Guard)
    Averaged 37.5 mpg, 19 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1 steal

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I MEAC Team of the Week

    South Carolina State University
    Went 2-0 with wins over Maryland Eastern Shore University (64-56) and Morgan State University (72-61)

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Co-Player of the Week

    PJ Henry, Texas Southern University (Alvin Attles, Jr. Point Guard)
    Averaged 34.5 mpg, 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division I SWAC Team of the Week

    Texas Southern University
    Went 2-0 with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff University (77- 70) and Jackson State University (80-70); second place in the SWAC Conference

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Player of the Week

    Jordan Simpson, Albany State University (Zelmo “Big Z” Beaty Centers)
    Averaged 38 mpg, 12 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II SIAC Team of the Week

    Morehouse College
    Went 1-0 with a win over Allen University (66-51); sharing first place in the East Division

  • HBCU All-Stars NCAA Division II CIAA Player of the Week

    Lincoln University, PA
    Went 3-0 with wins over Elizabeth City State University (76-62), Claflin University (58-52),
    and Fayetteville State University (54-51); CIAA Tournament Champs

  • HBCU All-Stars Division I National Spotlight Team of the Week
    South Carolina State University
    Went 2-0 with wins over Maryland Eastern Shore University (64-56) and Morgan State University (72-61)

According to Travis L. Williams, HBCU All-Stars, LLC Founder/CEO, “Week #17 produced SIAC Regular season Co-Champions in the East Division with Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College and Miles College, Western Division regular season championship. Lincoln University (PA) won its first ever CIAA Tournament Championship in Baltimore with an impressive run and regular season championship. Grambling State University sits alone in first place (18-13) and (13-3 league) and on a five-game winning streak. Norfolk State University (20-10) (10-3 league play) has won a share of the MEAC regular season championship place. Tennessee State University finished (17-14 overall and 10-8 in OVC) and is fifth in league play.

We have celebrated some of the best in Black College Basketball College during the 2023-24 season. The HBCU All-Stars Tour will continue this week and very excited to see how the SIAC Tournament Championship plays out at Savannah State University. Hampton and North Carolina A&T State Universities start CAA Championship league play this week. The SWAC and MEAC Tournament Championship will start the week of March 13-16 in Birmingham, Alabama and Norfolk, Virginia with many of teams competing for the NCAA Tournament berths on the line.

HBCU All-Stars LLC will honor the illustrious playing careers of Alvin Attles Jr., North Carolina A&T State University (CIAA), John Chaney, Bethune-Cookman University (SIAC), Leonard Eugene “Truck” Robinson, Tennessee State University (Independent), Robert Earl “Bob” Love, Southern University (SWAC), Zelmo “Big Z” Beaty, Prairie View A&M University (SWAC). Each of these amazing HBCU legends made their mark in this great game of basketball and reached the highest level of success in the NBA. We will recognize their impact on our HBCU basketball culture during the 2023-24 basketball season and host the third annual HBCU All-Star Game at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.

The HBCU All-Star Game is far more than a basketball game. HBCU All-Stars LLC will stage the HBCU All-Star Game Experience, a week-long festival that will kick off the week on Tuesday, April 2, and conclude the following Tuesday after the Championship game, April 9. It will celebrate the HBCU Experience and will be highlighted by an HBCU All-Stars College Admissions Fair, Community Outreach and Engagement, Pro Day Combine, Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony, and Social Justice & Civil Rights panel discussion.

The HBCU All-Star Game will air live on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on
Paramount+.
