ATLANTA (WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2024) HBCU All-Stars LLC has announced its third 2024-25 HBCU All-Stars “Player of the Week, Team of the Week, and National Spotlight Player” honors featuring the nation’s top HBCU men and women student-athletes from the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton Universities.

HBCU All-Stars Week 3 Winners

Men’s Player of the Week
  • Sterling Young, Florida A&M University – Average 29 mpg, 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for the week.
Men’s Team of the Week
  • SWAC Men’s Team of the Week: Southern University – Went (1-0) for the week with a win over University of Tulsa (70-66) and for second week in a row Southern University goes on the road and gets another big win against a Mid-Major Conference Opponent. Southern’s overall record is now (4-4) and has a three-game win streak.
  • SWAC Men’s Team of the Week: Florida A&M University – Went (2-0) for the week with a pair of home wins over Presbyterian College (66-63) and a win against Trinity College (130-58). FAMU has a two-game win streak.
  • MEAC Men’s Team of the Week: Norfolk State University – Went (1-0) for the week with a win over Stony Brook (77-66) to stay hot against Division I opponents in the non-conference play of the season. Overall record is (6-3) and has a two-game win streak.
  • Independent Men’s Team of the Week: Hampton University – Went (1-0) for the week with an 82-71 win over North Carolina A&T State University at home.
  • CIAA Men’s Co-Teams of the Week: Shaw University – Went (2-0) for the week with conference wins over Virginia State (66-62) on the road and beat Elizabeth City State University (83-66) at home. Shaw has a (6-4) overall record and a two-game win streak.
  • CIAA Men’s Co-Teams of the Week: Claflin University – Went (2-0) for the week with conference wins over Virginia Union (79-76) on the road and a win at home against Bowie State. They have a (5-4) overall record and a three-game win streak.
  • SIAC Men’s Team of the Week: Miles College – Went (2-0) for the week with wins over Fort Valley State University (82-54) at home and road win at Savannah State University (68-55). Miles College has a (6-2) overall record and a two-game win streak.
National Spotlight Men’s Player of the Week
  • Sterling Young, Florida A&M University – Averaged 29 mpg, 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for the week.
  • Trent McIntyre, Shaw University – Averaged 36 mpg, 22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals for the week.
Women’s Player of the Week
  • Alisha Wilson, Alabama A&M University – Played 36 minutes in a road win over Lindenwood, finishing with a double-double: 11 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block in her only game of the week.
Women’s Team of the Week
  • Women’s Team of the Week: Alabama A&M – Went 1-0 for the week and improved to a (5-3) overall record. The Bulldogs secured a road win at Lindenwood (61-58), and with a two-game win streak.
  • MEAC Women’s Team of the Week: Coppin State University – Went 2-0 for the week with victories at NJIT (63-31) and a home win over Arizona State (74-68 in overtime). The Eagles extended their win streak to two games with dominant performances.
  • Independent Women’s Team of the Week: Hampton University – Went 1-0 for the week, securing a huge SEC victory over Georgia on the road (76-74 in overtime). The Pirates delivered one of the biggest upsets of the week.
  • CIAA Women’s Team of the Week: Bowie State University – Went 3-0 for the week and defeated Johnson C. Smith (71-58) on the road, University of the District of Columbia (70-46) at home, and Claflin University (54-45) at home. They are on a six-game winning streak.
  • SIAC Women’s Team of the Week: Lane College – Went (2-0) for the week and improved their overall record to (6-1) for a six-game winning streak. The Dragons defeated Allen (79-70) and Blue Mountain University (65-55) with both games at home.
National Spotlight Women’s Player of the Week
  • Laila Lawrence, Coppin State University – Averaged 38.5 minutes per game, 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals.
  • Taniyah Greene, Virginia Union University – Averaged 24 minutes per game, 17.3 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 assist for Virginia Union University’s strong (6-2) start for the season.
National Spotlight Women’s Team of the Week
  • National Spotlight NCAA Division I Independent Women’s Team of the Week: Hampton University – Went 1-0 for the week and secured a massive (76-74) overtime win over the University of Georgia on their home court. The Pirates pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the week.
  • National Spotlight NCAA Division II Women’s Team of the Week: Bowie State – Went 3-0 for the week and defeated Johnson C. Smith (71-58) on the road, University of the District of Columbia (70-46) at home, and Claflin University (54-45) at home. Bowie State has now won six straight games.

About The All Star Game

This event is far more than a basketball game. HBCU All-Stars LLC will stage the HBCU All-Star Game Experience, a week-long festival that will kick off the week on Tuesday, April 2 and conclude the following Tuesday after the Championship game (April 9). It will celebrate the HBCU Experience and will be highlighted by a HBCU All-Stars College Admissions Fair, Community Outreach and Engagement, Pro Day Combine, Welcome Reception, Awards Ceremony, and Social Justice & Civil Rights panel discussion.
