This history making event and extraordinary collaboration of diversity, equity, inclusion, community outreach and initiatives for the great city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana during the Final Four Weekend is long overdue. The first ever HBCU All-Star Game Experience during the Final Four Tournament Championship is significant for our HBCUs academics and athletics culture and very critical in today’s turbulent society. HBCU All-Stars LLC hosting this game is monumental for the basketball landscape across the country and around the world! We can provide the most competitive and visible atmosphere for Historically Black Colleges & Universities basketball student-athletes to showcase their athletic and scholastic talents in front of NBA executives, scouts, coaches, personnel, as well as international teams, coaches, and scouts from around the world visiting metropolitan Indianapolis area, and state of Indiana.
HBCU All-Stars LLC will be a dedicated leader in college basketball by offering innovative programming to all HBCU All-Star participates that will further their success on and off the court. During the 2020 Final Four Tournament Championship in Atlanta, GA, our team worked extremely hard and invested time, money, resources into hosting our first-class event that was scheduled for Friday, April 3rd at Morehouse College Forbes Arena. However, we were not willing to jeopardize the health, safety, and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and personnel and followed suit with the NCAA and NABC cancelling the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The landscape of college athletics and the sports world has changed drastically since March 2020 with racial unrest, divisive politics, and the Covid-19 pandemic. To see the deaths of black men and women (George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor) at the hands of police brutality was very painful to watch and affected our country in every way imaginable. HBCU All-Stars will continue fighting oppression and striving for inclusion, diversity, and standing against systemic racism in all its forms, social & economic injustice, inequality, police brutality, and voter suppression. These are systemic problems and uncomfortable conversations that exist across our great nation that needs to be addressed consistently and openly. HBCU All-Stars LLC have a great platform to create meaningful, sustainable, and life-long partnerships that will be truly amazing for our HBCUs, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and alumni. We are living in some unprecedented times and the time is “NOW”.
HBCU All-Stars LLC is excited to offer professional expertise, executive leadership, vision, support, partnership, and collaborations to invest in the very best, brightest, hard-working, talented, ambitious student-athletes, and brilliant coaches at our distinguished HBCUs and showcase “The Best in Black College Basketball”. This remarkable event shows that “HBCUs Really Matter” and great for education, public relations, and community engagement for the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana in April 2021. We are very hopeful this HBCU All-Star Game will open up more doors and opportunities for our young, aspiring African-American men & women to attend HBCUs and stop the trend of HBCUs getting overlooked, underappreciated, and neglected. This game is very important in so many way and we have the full support of the NABC, MEAC, SWAC, SIAC, CIAA schools, conference offices and commissioners, Director of Athletics, SID’s, Coaching & Support Staff, Athletic Administration, students, fans, alumni, boosters, key-stake-holders, loyal and local HBCU communities, business partners, and sponsors.
